GE XWFE

XWF is a distinct predecessor.

PUR RF9999 (RF-9999 in NSF record)

Current and legacy RF9999 sheets include FM2500V; physical cartridge generation unresolved.

Household fit

Fit not confirmed

XWFE can replace XWF; XWF cannot replace XWFE in newer refrigerators requiring the electronic interaction. Confirm the refrigerator model in GE instructions.

Fit not confirmed

Household faucet fit is unconfirmed. PUR excludes pull-out and handheld faucets; use exact-model support for an unknown connection.

Evidence / source status

Manufacturer compatibility source checked; certification unresolved

GE support establishes a one-way replacement relation. It does not establish fit in your refrigerator or a contaminant certification.

Conflicting source scopes — generation unresolved

The current manufacturer sheet names IAPMO R&T. The independently inspected NSF record establishes only the listed NSF/ANSI 42 aesthetic claims; it does not verify the full current manufacturer claim table.

Primary sources and limits
Read sources and unresolved details for XWFE
  • GE XWFE support

    manufacturer support; checked .

GE states that XWFE can replace XWF; XWF cannot replace XWFE in newer refrigerators requiring the electronic interaction. Individual refrigerator fit still requires the exact model instructions. This compatibility source does not establish contaminant certification.

Source date: not established. Standard edition: not established.

  • IAPMO certificate application

    independent certifier directory; checked .

The certificate directory did not provide a retrievable certificate. Current active PUR and GE XWFE certificates remain unresolved. This generic directory requires a further exact-model lookup; opening it is not proof of a listing.

Source date: not established. Standard edition: not established.

  • Individual refrigerator model fit remains unknown.
  • Active IAPMO certificate and standard edition unresolved.
  • Gallon-capacity conflict not reconciled; no capacity inferred here.

  • PUR current RF9999 performance sheet

    manufacturer performance sheet; checked .

The current sheet includes FM2500V with RF3375 and RF9999, names NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401, and identifies IAPMO R&T. This is a manufacturer-published certification claim; the active IAPMO listing was not independently retrieved. Its claim table differs from the legacy sheet. Physical cartridge generation and current sold-package mapping remain unresolved.

Source date: not established. Standard edition: not established.

  • PUR legacy RF9999 performance sheet

    manufacturer performance sheet; checked .

PUR labels this sheet legacy. It includes FM2500V with RF9999 / RF3375 and names NSF and WQA, while the current sheet names IAPMO R&T. It is not a substitute for a current sold-generation receipt.

Source date: not established. Standard edition: not established.

  • NSF aesthetic-effects directory with PUR FM2500V

    independent certifier listing; checked .

The inspected NSF listing pairs FM2500V with RF-9999 under NSF/ANSI 42 for chlorine, taste/odor and nominal particulate Class I. NSF 53/401 and PFAS not established by this 42-filtered result. Exact generation and the full current manufacturer claim scope still require reconciliation.

Source date: not established. Standard edition: not established.

  • WQA RF-9999x entry

    independent certifier listing; checked .

RF-9999x appears as a component under NSF/ANSI 42. The inspected entry has N/A fields and no specific reduction claim. This is a component listing, not full-system health-claim proof. The x suffix remains unresolved.

  • PUR faucet support

    manufacturer support; checked .

PUR excludes pull-out and handheld faucets. Standard faucets still require connection and exact-model checks; an unsuccessful fitting goes to manufacturer support. Kit inventory and generation remain unresolved. This source does not establish third-party adapter fit.

Source date: not established. Standard edition: not established.

  • Current active IAPMO listing not independently retrieved.
  • Physical cartridge generation and sold-package mapping unresolved.
  • Standard editions unknown; legacy NSF/WQA wording cannot substitute for the current-generation receipt.

Pros & Cons

GE XWFE Refrigerator Water Filter

Pros

  • Very strong current Amazon demand signal for the genuine GE XWFE cartridge
  • Official GE copy names lead, chlorine, PFOA/PFOS, microplastics, arsenic, and select pharmaceutical reduction claims
  • Six-month replacement cadence is easy to explain and fits recurring-maintenance buyer intent

Cons

  • Only useful for GE-family refrigerators that require XWFE; XWF lookalikes and chip compatibility matter
  • Generic compatible filters should not inherit GE's contaminant-reduction receipt without their own certification
  • Per-gallon cost is high compared with under-sink systems

PUR Plus Vertical Faucet Mount Water Filtration System

Pros

  • Inspected NSF 42 listing names FM2500V/RF-9999 for its listed aesthetic claims
  • Renter-friendly faucet installation avoids drilling or under-sink cabinet work
  • Low upfront installation burden for supported faucet designs; claim scope requires separate checking

Cons

  • Compatibility depends on faucet aerator style and sink clearance
  • Flow is slower than a normal tap and cartridges need frequent replacement
  • The exact replacement filter matters; third-party compatible cartridges should not inherit PUR certification claims

Our Verdicts

GE XWFE Refrigerator Water Filter

GE XWFE belongs in Filter Report because refrigerator cartridges are a compatibility trap. The current genuine listing has a strong demand signal and clear official claim language, but the recommendation only applies when the fridge specifically calls for XWFE and the buyer wants the genuine cartridge receipt.

PUR Plus Vertical Faucet Mount Water Filtration System

Consider FM2500V only after the faucet fit check and exact cartridge-generation check. The inspected NSF 42 entry supports its listed aesthetic scope; the current manufacturer IAPMO claim and sold generation still need reconciliation before relying on broader reductions.
